What is Myasthenia Gravis?

Myasthenia gravis comes from the Greek and Latin words meaning “grave muscular weakness.” In its most common form Myasthenia Gravis is an autoimmune neuro-muscular disorder that is characterized by fluctuating weakness of the voluntary muscle groups.
There is no report describing the prevalence of Myasthenia Gravis in India.  However, Myasthenia Gravis is probably under diagnosed in our country due to lack of awareness about it. Unfortunately even many doctors fail to recognize it due to the rare nature of this disease and lack of high index of suspicion.
